A relaxed time in Langtaufers!

A high-mountain-valley on the Alps- in a heigth of 1500 to 1850 meters. Surrounded by fascinating tops of the “Ötztal”-Alps. Measured for your wishes: quiet and relax, untouched nature, clean air and cristal-clear water and in the valley fascinating deep-green pastures, deep woods, roaring streams , romantic paths and nice people.

This variety makes your holiday unforgettable; at the beginning of the valley to one side there is the lake of “Reschen” with the church-tower in the floods, which remembers the tragic end of the village of old “Graun” , on the other side the valley ends with the majestic  glacier “Weisskugel”, in a heigth of 3739 meters. In between there are singular houses and groups of yards in which the farmers of the valley live.

If you prefer walks around the lake scenery  or the silence of the mountaintops, “Langtaufers” offers the right thing for every age. You find relaxation by walking through the woods and pastures of the valley and the people from the farms offer you entertainment as well as associations of the villages with funny farmer markets, concerts, village-feasts and traditional religious festivities. A change is offered even by the unparalleled mountain-summer on alpine pastures and huts as well as the deep-snowed winters.

“Langtaufers” is marked by its intact nature, its variety, and its natural beauty.

The valley, surrounded by a singular scenery made of white mountain tops, colourful  pastures and deep-blue lakes is suitable to relax or to be active. Nature-friends will discover the beautiful mountain world by walking or by cycling. The particular flower -and animal- world invites to be discovered. 50 km signed walking and cycling-ways bring you from the valley to the mountain-tops, even alpine high-mountain tours on rocks or ice are possible.

A particular experience is the panorama mountain way from “Langtaufers” and special basic knowhow in rock- or ice-climbing will be conveyed if requested by our mountain- guides. If the way down is too difficult, it’s possible to use a hang glider; tandem-fly is offered.

Riding, swimming, fishing and mountain-biking are some of the variety of sport activities in the mountains.

In the winter it’s possible to ski, snowboard, cross-country ski, make ski-tours, toboggan, snowshoe-walking, ice skate, sleigh ride and ice climb. A 20 km long cross- country course, a luge- run, the ski area “Maseben” (in front of the house) and the indoor swimming pool in Graun offer the best possibilities to stay fit.

You will find tradition and cultural offers in the home- museum of “Graun”, in the little church of St. Anna, and in the little mountain-church St . Nikolaus in “Rojen”. Inside you can find frescos of the Meran-school( 15. Century). Worth to see is the tower in the lake, as silent testimonial of a sunken village.
